Which one of you nuts got any guts?!
That comment is made by McMurphy (Jack Nicholson) in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s nest (1975). The film is hailed by many as one the best films ever made, directed by Milos Forman (famous for Amadeus, Man on the Moon and more) is a film that focuses on McMurphy who has managed to get himself in a psychiatric ward instead of prison due to his laziness whilst trying to convey madness.
Throughout the film McMurphy tries to rebel against the system, the dictatorship that Nurse Ratchet has developed inside the ward that has forced many of it’s patients to accept the rules and sometimes harassment, is a world that McMurphy tries to get the patients to also neglect, and eventually they do.
It really is a film that will make you cry and laugh intensely, and with a rating on IMDB of 8.8 - statistic don’t lie. At the time the film was the first film in 41 years to have swept the major categories in the Oscars with Nicholson winning best actor, Louise Fletcher winning best supporting actress, Milos Forman winning best Director, Best Screenplay adapted from other material (novel) and Best Picture as well as being nominated for another 4 Oscars.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest really is a fantastic film to watch, if you haven’t already seen it; you know what to do!
